Gqeberha police seek identity of decomposed body found in drain

SAPS Mount Road detectives are seeking the community’s assistance in identifying a decomposed body found in a drain on Thursday, August 3.

According to police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu, it is alleged that at approximately 11:50, workers were busy with electrical installations in Paterson Road in North End when one of the workers noticed the body inside the drain located next to the road.

She said police were contacted, and the body was retrieved.

“The deceased is a man; however, due to the advanced decomposition, his race and age could not be determined. An inquest docket has been opened for investigation,” said Naidu.

Police are appealing to anyone who can assist in identifying the deceased or may know of any person who may be missing, to contact SAPS Mount Road at 041 394 6316/6243 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or the nearest police station.
