PE Black Vultures and Valencia were crowned MOFA Biyana Top 8 First Division and MOFA Biyana Top 8 Premier League Floating Trophy champions during the finals that took place at the full Motherwell NU 2 Stadium on Sunday.
Vultures’ road to the finals began after they overcame Ramaphosa United 3–0 in their semi-final, while their opponents, Lion City, defeated Bay Eagles 2–1 in their semi-final at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium last Sunday.
Vultures claimed a 3–2 victory over City. Qhamani Gubevu, Buhle Kona, and Anela Ningi scored a goal apiece for Vultures, while Luthando Konzani scored a brace for City.
Valencia emerged triumphant after they edged out Eleven Stars 3–0 on penalties, after their goalless semi-final at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium last Sunday.
Shining Stars booked themselves a berth in the finals with their hard-fought 2–1 victory over Young Madrid during their semi-final at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium last Sunday.
Valencia won the tough final 4–3 on penalties, following the 3–3 full-time score. Valencia’s goals came courtesy of Athenkosi Klaas, Vuyisa Pangu and a penalty by Sive Dyasi. Stars’ goals were scored by Bonginkosi Dandi and two penalties by Anele Matshaya. Stars midfielder, Mbulelo Makalima, played an instrumental role for his side, while Valencia midfielder Sibusiso Mabengu contributed a lot for his team.
