All roads will lead to Gelvandale Track Stadium as the Tennyson Mackay Athletics Series takes place on Saturday morning.

Event organizer Derrick Hoshe confirmed that this athletics series is a prestigious event. Hoshe appealed to schools and the public at large to arrive at the stadium on time, as it is expected to be a full house.

Hoshe said, “The gates will open at 07:00, but the event will strictly commence at 09:00 sharp. Schools must not miss out. The school with the most points will go home with the floating trophy. Shields are up for grabs for the best performance.”

As the event is mainly for persons under the age of 18, particularly learners, Hoshe appealed to spectators not to consume alcohol on the stadium premises, as alcohol is not allowed at all in the stadium. According to Hoshe, athletes and management will receive refreshments during the event.

Hoshe said, “To make this event the most glamorous one, I appeal to schools to bring along their school banners for the official opening of the event. We would like to thank the teachers in advance, as their schools supported our program in large numbers last year.”

Hoshe said that the primary schools confirmed to participate are Alpha, GJ Louw, St Teresa, Frank Joubert, Parkside, Helenvale, Hillcrest, Fontein, West End, Greenville, Young Park, Bethelsdorp, Kleinskool, KwaNoxolo, Alfonso Aries, Triomf, Kroneberg, and Charles Duna. Interested schools are requested to contact Derrick Hoshe at 083 388 6562.
