In a shocking incident, two Emergency Medical Services (EMS) workers were robbed by six armed men outside the Befile Clinic on Befile Street in Kwazakhele, Gqeberha, on Monday morning, April 8. The assailants, who struck at approximately 08:30, robbed the crew of their belongings before fleeing. Fortunately, the EMS workers escaped physical harm, but attack has left them shaken.
According to the Department of Health Spokesperson, Sizwe Kupelo, the incident happened at approximately 08:30, where the two EMS crew was confronted by six armed men and robbed them of their personal belongings.
He said, “two cellphones and wallet were taken.”
Kupelo added that the EMS workers were not harmed but shaken from the robbery.
Police spokesperson, Captain Andre Beetge, added that the “suspects attempted to drive off with the vehicle but abandoned it and fled on foot.”
SAPS New Brighton detectives are investigating a case of attempting hijacking.
