SAPS KwaDwesi, in conjunction with its partners, KwaMagxaki High School and Nelson Mandela University (NMU), recently hosted a successful outreach programme in commemoration of their Child Protection Month campaign.

According to a SAPS statement, the programme was held under the 2026 theme, ‘Working Together in Ending Violence Against Children.’

The initiative brought together members from SAPS Motherwell and KwaDwesi, with Warrant Officer Van Meryen, Sergeant Rossouw, Sergeant Yengo, Constable Ntamo, PO Ndwayana, and PO Dunga, who engaged learners through informative and motivational presentations aimed at empowering the youth.

The statement added that training coordinators and personnel embarked on a meaningful journey of equipping learners with valuable career guidance, recruitment procedures, and life skills.

“Representatives from NMU presented various career paths and educational opportunities available to learners, encouraging them to pursue their dreams and unlock their full potential,” it stated.

Topics discussed included the SAPS recruitment process, career development from recruitment to retirement, capacity building, the consequences of crime, and the preservation of children’s rights through education as a form of crime prevention.

“The outreach programme was well received by learners, with positive engagement and meaningful learning taking place throughout the event,” it concluded.
