GREENBUSHES – A suspect has been arrested by SAPS Kabega Park following a fatal shooting incident that occurred in Kuyga, Greenbushes in the early hours of Sunday, 22 March.
“At approximately 02:25, SAPS members who were patrolling in Kuyga heard multiple gunshots and immediately proceeded in the direction of the sound,” a statement by SAPS said. “Upon arrival, members were flagged down by community members and led to a shack in the yard of a residence in Nkanjeni Drive, where they found the body of a 27-year-old male.
“The deceased sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and the right side of his body. A 9mm Norinco pistol was later discovered in a neighbouring yard and was confiscated as part of the investigation, along with spent cartridges. Following further investigation at the scene, a male suspect was arrested and detained on a charge of murder. The motive for the incident is under investigation.”
The suspect is expected to appear in the Gqeberha Magistrate’s Court during the week.
