Saints FC suffer first defeat in NAFA Premier League

SAINTS FC tasted their first defeat of the season after they went down 2–1 to Fairdene FC at Saints Ground in Gelvandale, during a Northern Areas Football Association (NAFA) Premier League Stream B clash on Saturday.

Despite their first loss of the season, Saints FC still lead the way, on top of the NAFA Premier League Stream B log table, as Windvogel All Stars succumbed 3–2 to Shamrocks FC at Malabar Field 1 on Saturday.

In another Stream B clash, Fairview Rovers overcame Bloem Stars 2–0 at Finnis Street Field 2, while the game between Stardrift FC and Apex FC, which was scheduled to take place at Marock Road Field 1, was postponed until further notice.

The competition is also very tough in the NAFA Premier League Stream A. The log leaders Park United shared a 1–1 draw with West Lake in Arcadia on Saturday. Rangers FC went down 2–1 to Glenville Celtic at Errol Heynes Grounds in Gelvandale on Saturday. Bloom Callies were held to a 1–1 draw by Hotspurs at Finnis Street 1 Field. Helenvale United failed to win their home game, as they lost 3–1 to Blackpool AFC in Helenvale.

Old Grey FC advance in bid to win SAFA NMB Hollywood Bets Regional League

SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Hollywood Bets Regional League log leaders, Old Grey FC (OGFC), impressed their supporters and management committee, who were overjoyed as their side won their two games over the weekend.

OGFC demolished the struggling Roaring Tigers 8–0 during their clash at SAPS Main Grounds in Mount Croix on Saturday.

OGFC continued with their winning ways as they registered an emphatic 4–1 victory on Bay Tigers at Veeplaas Turf Stadium on Sunday.

Other title contenders, Khipu Major Chiefs, settled for a goalless draw when they took on Stinging Bees at Khayamnandi Community Grounds in Despatch on Saturday.

EC Celtics, also in the league title race, played to a goalless draw against Bay Tigers at Veeplaas Turf Stadium on Saturday.

The struggling Eleven Stars humiliated Dynamos 5–2 at Jabavu Rugby Stadium in KwaNobuhle on Saturday, while Highland Spurs shared a 1–1 draw with Despatch Pioneers at Jabavu Soccer Stadium on Saturday.

Madibaz Football played to a goalless draw against Camper United at Nelson Mandela University South Campus in Summerstrand on Saturday.

Biko, Yisaka, guide Young Madrid FC to beat Lon City in MOFA Premier League

ANDILE Biko and Thandolwethu Yisaka scored three valuable goals that helped Young Madrid FC defeat Lion City FC 3–2 during a Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) Premier League clash at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Saturday.

City broke the ice after Siyanda Ntlali delivered a hotshot that beat Madrid goalkeeper, Ayema Mahini, in the 23rd minute. City increased their lead to 2–0 after Ayabonga Lamani scored in the 55th minute.

Madrid striker, Andile Ace Biko, banged in his side’s long-awaited goal that beat City goalkeeper, Likhona Tollman, in the 61st minute.

Madrid then scored a second goal thanks to Yisaka who was named the man of the match. Yisaka’s goal in the 75th minute guided Madrid to a hard-fought 3–2 victory over the title contenders.

City lost their second match 2–0 to Shining Stars at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium. Stars collected another three league points in their 3–0 win over Arsenal FC at Motherwell NU 11 Stadium on Saturday. Madrid also defeated Black Vultures 3–2 at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Sunday.

ZAFA host Week 3 league games

HUNDREDS of fans converged at the Eleven Angels and Dynamos Grounds to watch the three Zakhele Football Association (ZAFA) Premier League games that were played on Saturday.

Black Eagles and United Comrades faced off at Eleven Angels Grounds, where Comrades secured a hard-fought 5–4 victory.

Swartkops United registered an easy 4–2 triumph when they locked horns with the tough Seven United at Eleven Angels Grounds as well. The Angels’ home supporters saw their side edge out Golden Brothers 3–0 during their one-sided contest.

Young Neighbours overcame the gallant Stone Breakers 1–0 at Dynamos Grounds.

The supporters of Charge United were surprised when they saw Royal Blues take their side to the cleaners 3–1 at Dynamos Grounds.

ZAFA Premier League rookies, Young Boys, gave Island City a fight, despite registering a 3–2 loss.
