GQEBERHA – Police have confirmed that a missing teenager who sparked an urgent search operation earlier this week has been found safe.
Ona Moloto (18) disappeared from his family home in Westering in the early hours of Monday, 8 September.
The Grade 12 learner from Alexander Road High School had vanished from his Warbler Street residence, prompting a police investigation and public appeal for information.
The teen’s disappearance had particularly concerned his family and school, given his exemplary academic record and the fact that he was due to sit a mathematics examination on Monday.
In a brief statement on Tuesday 9 September, Captain Sandra Janse Van Rensburg said: “Ona who was reported missing has been found and is safe.”
His mother, Thembela Mahonga, also confirmed that Ona is safely home.
No further details about the circumstances surrounding the incident have been shared by police at this stage.
