FOLLOWING their hard-fought 1-1 draw with Shining Stars at Motherwell NU 11 Ground on Sunday, Showvillage United FC were crowned the 2018 Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) Premier League champions.

Coming into the match in high spirits after overcoming Real Strikers 3-0 on Saturday, The Stallions, as Showvillage United are known, knew that the draw was good enough for them to take the honours on Sunday.

However, Stars, which boasts a number of talented youngsters, were under pressure to win their two remaining games in order for them to win the title.

Stars’ hopes were kept alive after they defeated Royal Bucks 2-0 on Saturday.

Unfortunately, something that Stars’ loyal supporters did not want to see was their side dropping points in one of their last matches of the league season.

Stars failed to lift the prestigious league trophy as Showvillage United held them to a 1-1 draw.

As a result, Showvillage were crowned the 2018 MOFA Premier League champions.

The defending champions, Manchester United, lost 3-0 to Wells United at Motherwell NU9 Stadium on Friday evening, effectively eliminating them from the running for the prestigious title.

Manchester played to a goalless draw against their neighbours, Tomorrow Stars, in their game that was abandoned by the referee at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday.

Tomorrow Stars closed the season on a high note after they defeated Real Strikers 2-1 at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Sunday.

In their First Division clash, Seven Sundowns managed to topple their neighbours, Eleven Brothers, 2-0 at the Motherwell NU 13 Grounds on Sunday.

Anathi Mncono scored the opening goal in the 50th minute to put Seven Sundowns in the lead 1-0.

Sundowns’ skipper Mava Klaas, who was on top of his game at the weekend, scored a penalty which helped his side claim three valuable points in the 70th minute.

Another game which stole the show was Eleven Stars against NU 7 Citizens, which saw Stars winning 2-1.
