PARENTS and members of the community came out in droves to watch the Coselelani Secondary School Annual Sports Tournament that took place at the school grounds on Saturday, September 22.

According to Motherwell NU 9 school headmaster, Langa Tshangana, the tournament turned into a huge success.

“The tournament drew many spectators, especially youth. Our society is faced by many social ills. There is an alarming rate of substance abuse. Today, youth were kept busy playing sport.”

The programme only catered for u/15 soccer and netball.

The seven schools that took part were Coselelani Secondary, Elufefeni Primary, Mdengentonga Primary, Fumisukoma Primary, Nxanelwimfundo Primary and WB Tshume Primary. The tournament was played in a round robin format. The team that accumulated the highest points took the honours in soccer and netball.

The netball winners were Nxanelwimfundo Primary School first team, who went home with a floating trophy and gold medals.

The runners-up, Coselelani Secondary, received silver medals, while Fumisukoma Primary received bronze medals.

The hosts, Coselelani Secondary, became the 2018 soccer champions, proudly lifting the floating trophy and gold medals. Nxanelwimfundo Primary were the runners-up and Fumisukoma Primary won the plate section.

Coselelani Secondary striker, Asakhe Drogba Stefans, won the Top Goal Scorer award trophy.

Tshangana thanked all the schools that participated in their tournament.
