CAMPER United played their hearts out when they claimed an outright 3-0 home victory from the gutsy NMU Madibaz Football team in their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay (NMB) SAB League game at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday.
The visitors made a good start to the game, with their star midfielder Yamkela Va dictating terms. Madibaz conceded a corner kick which their defence cleared from their goal area. Camper’s lanky midfielder Akhona Mcopele unleashed a close range shot into the back of the net in the 35th minute.
Madibaz continued to wage their struggle in search of an equaliser, but Camper defender Lukhanyo “Sheriff” Rasmeni kept things tight at the back.
Camper were rightly ecstatic, showing a ruthless edge in front of the goals and great organisation as the game proceeded. The students’ goalkeeper, Matthew Booysen, could not deal with the powerful direct free kick, which Rasmeni sent into the back of the net in the 69th minute.
The hosts showed that they wanted to kill the game as they exerted more pressure to Madibaz.
Camper left wing, Xolisa Ramente, whipped in a perfect cross that was headed into the back of the net by Isaac Scheepers in the 85th minute with Camper United claiming a 3-0 victory in a grand style.
