SEVEN Sundowns Sports Club managed to collect three maximum league points after they overcame their neighbours, Eleven Brothers, 2-1 in the last game of the Motherwell Football Association (MOFA) First Division League season at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday.
Sundowns took the game to Brothers, but their forwards lacked composure in front of Brothers’ goals. The first goal of the game came courtesy of Sundowns’ midfielder, Bongo Funani, in the last minutes of the first half, giving Downs a 1-0 lead.
Early in the second half, Brothers levelled matters 1-1 after their striker, Thandolwethu Moriri Jacobs, headed a beautiful goal, as he was unmarked from the corner kick.
Sundowns piled more pressure on their opponents. Captain Mava Klaas guided his side Downs to a 2-1 lead, after he scored a goal from the penalty spot. Then the Motherwell NU 7 side made sure that they would concede unnecessary free-kicks. Sundowns finished the league season in grand style after they claimed a well-deserved 2-1 victory.
