Police in Gqeberha are seeking the assistance of the community in tracing Qays Mohaned Hersi Mohamoud, a 20-year-old foreign national student who was kidnapped on Saturday evening, November 9, in Gelvandale.

Police spokesperson, Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg, said according to information, it is alleged that at approximately 19:00, the complainant and his friend were driving a dark grey VW Tiguan. At the corners of Aubrey Street and Kobus Road, Parkside, an unknown white motor vehicle passed them, quickly braked in front of them, and forced them to stop. Another unknown vehicle blocked them from behind.

She said two unknown suspects approached the vehicle from the front, coming towards both doors and pointing firearms at them.

“They were forced out of the vehicle. The suspects demanded money and cell phones, taking the cell phone of the complainant and his friend. Thereafter, they forced the driver into the vehicle that was parked at the back and drove off, leaving the passenger behind.

“The motive is unknown, and the victim is still missing. No demands were made, and the Gqeberha Provincial Organised Crime Anti-Gang Unit is busy with the investigation,” she added.

“Any person with information that could assist police in this investigation can please contact Detective WO Neville Gouws on 082 387 5904 or our SAPS CrimeStop number 08600 10111, or send information via the MYSAPS APP. All information is confidential, and callers may remain anonymous.”
