Students, staff and lecturers of The IIE’s Varsity College Port Elizabeth were encouraged to send in a quote, song, poem or statement depicting what women’s empowerment means to them and how they empower and encourage the women or girls around them. The winner, Lisa Stevenson, walked away with branded IIE Varsity College merchandise. Stevenson, a lecturer at The IIE’s Varsity College PE, said, ‘Being a mom to three little girls, I think it is so important to empower little girls by appreciating things in them and about them that are truly valuable. We should remember to do this when we speak to fellow woman as well. . . you are not what you wear, what you look like or who you are married to/dating. Your talents, dreams and soul are so much more important than the external factors that make up YOU!’ Pictured are, from left, Hadassah, Lisa, Ruth and Sarah Stevenson – empowered ladies who strive to empower others.
