WELLS Estate United unveiled the kit and equipment that they bought through the National Lottery Commission (NLC) funding in a function which was held at Wells Estate Community multi-purpose field on Saturday.

Wells president, Vusumzi Mbali, who was visibly excited, stated that the NLC had rescued his club by funding them to get the much-needed kit and equipment for soccer and netball teams.

He revealed that his dedicated, hardworking and committed management under his leadership had played a major role towards securing National Lottery Trust Distribution Funds (NLTDF).

Mbali said, “My executive committee members are passionate about sport. They make sure that we draw the children and youth to sport.

“This is a great milestone that we had never achieved before. The full soccer kit for juniors and seniors included jerseys, golf shirts, tracksuits and all training and playing equipment, have been bought.

“Our netball teams have also benefited from the NLTDF, in so much that we have bought kits, tracksuits and golf shirts and their training equipment. The management and the technical team have kit from the NLTDF. Our main intentions are that we want to see our children taking part in sport and our club growing.”

Wells secretary, Lulamile Ruu Mzayiya, said their club had received R155 000 from NLC.

“We are very happy that all our soccer teams and all our netball have kits. The kit will make our club a united, disciplined, dedicated club,” explained Mzayiya.

Club deputy president, Nosisi Kolisi, told PE Express that the kit and the equipment arrived after she had revived netball. According to Kolisi, the members of the community approached her to revive the sport of netball.

Kolisi said, “Our netball teams used their own training kits to play the games because the club did not have netball kits. The players show high levels of discipline and our membership has grown immensely. The parents of our players rally behind our club. I want to thank NLC for the funding. I fully concur with Mzayiya that other clubs should apply for funding at NLC.
