Griquas women team — At this past weekend’s Currie Cup semifinal match between the Suzuki Griquas and ADT Lions in Kimberley, the premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul (middle), pledged R2 million to the Griquas women’s rugby team in recognition of their outstanding achievement. The team was recently crowned SA Rugby’s Pick n Pay Women’s Second Division champion after defeating the Pumas in Nelspruit. The premier attended the Currie Cup match on Sunday 6 September alongside Mangaliso Matika, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture, as well as other senior government officials. PHOTO: Facebook
