As a landmark investment valued at R98 million, the first phase of the Northern Cape’s Yellow Fleet machinery in the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) District was officially launched by the Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul, together with the MEC for Roads and Public Works, Fufe Makatong.
The first batch of four graders and two TLBs was delivered in Kuruman on Thursday 28 May, marking the beginning of a phased rollout of the full consignment of 35 machinery and fleet units.

The complete fleet includes 10 graders that will play a critical role in maintaining gravel roads and supporting rehabilitation work across the province, as well as eight tipper trucks with a 5 cubic metre capacity and two tipper trucks with a 10 cubic metre capacity to support the transportation of construction materials and general maintenance operations.
To address dust suppression and gravel road maintenance needs, the department has also procured three water trucks with a capacity of 12 000 litres and one water truck with capacity of 6 000 litres.
Operational capacity is further strengthened through 8 flatbed trucks, 3 front loaders and 2 TLBs, as well as 1 excavator.
The procurement process commenced in April, with the remainder of the fleet expected to be delivered in phases between now and July.
