The police need assistance in locating a male resident of Lerato Park in Roodepan, Kimberley, who disappeared a day after being admitted to hospital.

According to Warrant Officer Molefi Shemane of the Northern Cape Media Centre, the 52-year-old Desmond Olyn was last seen on Friday 13 March when he was admitted to the Robert Mangaliso Sobukwe Hospital in Kimberley for medical examination.

However, on Saturday 14 March when family members went to visit him at the hospital, they were informed that he had been discharged.

At the time of his disappearance, he was wearing a long-sleeved grey top and blue tracksuit bottoms with trainers.

Members of the Kimberley Serious and Violent Crimes Unit are requesting the assistance of the public in locating Olyn.

Anyone with information that can assist in locating Olyn can call the investigating officer, Warrant Officer Kelaegile Mosala, on 082 302 0407 or report information at the nearest police station, call SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111 or use the MySAPS app.

All information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

The public is reminded that there is no waiting period to report a missing person.
