PARYS – Efforts to improve service delivery and restore stability at the Ngwathe Local Municipality remain under way following a progress review meeting held by the Free State Department of Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements.

MEC for Cooperative Governance, Traditional Affairs and Human Settlements, Saki Mokoena, met with the municipality’s administration in Parys to assess progress since the Provincial Government’s intervention following the dissolution of the municipal council.

The meeting reviewed the municipality’s operational performance, financial recovery, governance, infrastructure projects and ongoing measures aimed at improving services to residents. Municipal management also presented updates on work already completed and projects currently in progress.

According to the department, the intervention is intended to strengthen the municipality’s capacity to provide reliable basic services while restoring sound financial management and effective administration.

Mokoena said the priority remains building a municipality that is financially sustainable, well governed and able to deliver quality services to communities.

The Provincial Government said it will continue working with the municipal administration and other stakeholders to restore stability, improve governance and accelerate service delivery across the Ngwathe Local Municipality.

The intervention forms part of ongoing efforts to address challenges affecting municipal operations and to ensure residents receive the essential services they rely on.
