GQEBERHA – After the missing Gqeberha teenager Allegra Styles (14) and her alleged boyfriend, Brent Naidoo (25), were found, police confirmed that the matter would be investigated.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg confirmed that after interviewing the 14-year-old girl and her friend, a decision was made not to open any criminal charges against the 25-year-old boyfriend.
A later deleted social media post by Naidoo showed a photo of the assumed couple with a caption celebrating their then seven-month relationship, adding how much he loved the minor.
“The Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit, in conjunction with the Senior Public Prosecutor (SPP), decided that no criminal charges would be opened,” she said.
PE Express previously reported that Allegra allegedly went missing on Thursday, 8 October, at approximately 18:00.
“She was wearing a beige top and blue jeans,” Janse van Rensburg said at the time of her disappearance. “A family member reported her missing on Saturday, 10 October.”
Janse van Rensburg previously stated that the family member told police that Allegra had gone to Kamma Park to attend a party following an alleged altercation with her boyfriend.
At the time, she added that police visited several locations and contacted people known to her to find out her whereabouts; however, no one was able to share relevant information.
Janse van Rensburg also said at the time that members immediately followed up and located the missing teenager in Middle Street, North End.
The pair, with an 11-year age difference between them, still seemingly mention each other in their Instagram biographies, with Naidoo saying that their alleged relationship “is a forever thing.”
Janse van Rensburg confirmed that the matter is now finalised.
