POTCHEFSTROOM – North West University (NWU) secured their place in the FNB Varsity Cup final with a dominant 50-10 victory over Maties at the Fanie Du Toit on Monday afternoon.

After a closely contested first half that saw the teams locked at 10-10, NWU took control after the break, running in seven tries to seal a comprehensive 40-point victory.

The Potchefstroom side’s second-half performance proved too much for the Maroon Machine, as they dominated both in attack and defence to shut down any hopes of a Maties comeback.

The Eagles will face the winner of the second semi-final between table-toppers Tuks and UJ. The match kicked off at 19:00 on Monday evening and was level at 8-8 at halftime.
