Cape Town International Airport Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) confirmed that operations at the airport remain on track, following a fuel leak incident involving an aircraft on the runway this morning.
According to ACSA the incident was immediately addressed by airport response teams and the area was secured in accordance with standard airside safety procedures.
ACSA confirmed in a press statement that an “airside ground handling incident” occurred.
“At ACSA, passenger safety remains uncompromised and is our highest priority. Passengers are advised to consult the ACSA Mobile App for routine flight updates,” read the statement.

This incident comes just days after a power outage caused by kites becoming entangled in high-voltage power lines on Friday 4 April.
According to Eskom, that incident occurred at approximately 03:50, prompting an immediate response from technicians who were dispatched to carry out emergency repairs.
In February, a fire broke out in the Northern Service Yard at the airport, triggering widespread flight delays and passenger frustration, as reported by Nova News.
Emergency crews responded swiftly, containing the blaze without injuries or fatalities, although several key systems were temporarily disrupted. The latest outage comes just weeks after that incident.
