The Helderberg Pirates Baseball Club is preparing to expand its roster and welcome the local community with an interactive open day at Radloff Park in Somerset West from 10:00 to 13:00 this Saturday (5 September).
Designed for youth aged under-10 through under-18, the event aims to showcase baseball as an inclusive sport for everyone, regardless of age, gender or skill level. Whether picking up a glove for the very first time or looking to sharpen existing diamond skills, prospective players are invited to step up to the plate and get a feel for the game.
“At Helderberg Pirates, we’re more than a team… we’re family,” the club shared in a statement. “Now it’s time to make our family even bigger.”
The event extends beyond aspiring athletes; locals, supportive families and even four-legged companions are invited to join the fun. Visitors will have the opportunity to meet the team, get to know the club’s community ethos and experience the sport in a relaxed environment.
Following the main open day activities at 13:00, guests are encouraged to stick around to watch the Pirates seniors in a full baseball game. Refreshments – including snacks, cold drinks, and a bar service – will be available on-site throughout the afternoon.
Head down to the ball field on Saturday to get in on the action. No prior experience is necessary.
