A mother of two, arrested in Strand for contravening the Immigration Act, pleaded guilty to the charges in the Strand Magistrates’ Court on Friday (10 July). The Zimbabwean national was apprehended in Main Road on Monday 29 June, while on her way to collect her children from crèche (“Mom of two behind bars“, DistrictMail & Helderberg Gazette, 8 July). She was unable to provide documentation proving her legal status in the country. Following her plea, she paid a R2 000 fine.
