The Du Toitskloof Pass has been closed for traffic after another fatal accident claimed the lives of two people on Sunday (3 May) after a heavy motor vehicle accident.
This follows a single-vehicle accident on Saturday (2 May) on Du Toitskloof Pass in which three people were also killed, and left two people critically injured.
According to a credible source the recent accident occurred around 16:00 on Sunday afternoon in the direction of Worcester just after the old tunnel.
Kurt Maske, a local paramedic at ER24, confirmed two people have died by 17:30.
“Currently there are two fatal and some more patients down the pass.”
At this stage it is unknown if any other vehicles are involved in the accident and how many other people have been left injured.
In a separate incident six people were left injured after an accident on Sunday at about 15:45. The accident happened on the N1 close to the Veldskoen Padstal in De Doorns.
Sgt Wesley Twigg, spokesperson for the police in the Western Cape, confirmed the tragic accident on Du Toitskloof Pass.
“Paarl police registered a culpable homicide case for investigation following a accident involving a truck on Sunday afternoon, 03 May 2026, at about 16:05, on Du Toitskloof Pass.”
He says the circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation.
“Two unknown adult males were declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel, while the injured victims were transported to a medical facility for treatment.”
