CAPE WINELANDS – Firefighting crews from Cape Winelands District Municipality (CWDM) are battling a new fire that ignited on the Du Toitskloof Pass on Sunday 16 November.

The fire started on the Worcester side of the pass, with several firefighting vehicles currently positioned along the N1 conducting suppression operations.

Motorists are advised to exercise extreme caution and reduce speed when travelling through the area, while officials manage traffic and direct compliance with their instructions.

Jo-Anne Otto, CWDM spokesperson requested motorists to refrain from stopping to take photographs. “This endangers both emergency workers and other drivers,” she warned.
