KANONEILAND – A 41-year-old American man was detained on Sunday (26 October) at a farm in Kanoneiland by local police working with Interpol.
Sergeant Omphile Masegela, Northern Cape police spokesman for the ZF Mgcawu District, said Interpol had contacted local officers about an American suspect believed to be in the Kanoneiland area. He is a suspect in several cases, including kidnapping.

The man was traced and arrested on Sunday, 26 October, by a joint team including members of the police at Kanoneiland, Upington Border Police, Upington Highway Patrol and Interpol officers.
The suspect, who remains in custody, is expected to be extradited soon.
District commissioner Major General Monica Sebili praised the collaboration between the law enforcement agencies involved in the operation.
