KUGOMPO CITY – Life Beacon Bay Hospital’s maternity unit celebrated what it called a landmark delivery with the birth of a baby boy weighing 6.37kg in KuGompo City on 30 September.
According to the hospital, the baby weighs nearly twice the average newborn weight.
Parents Lisolethu Nzungu and Athini Thene welcomed their son, named Izimakhe, in what staff described as an unforgettable moment for the hospital. Both mother and baby are reported to be in good health.
“This was a very special delivery for everyone involved,” said Dr Gibson Muzonzini, obstetrician and gynaecologist.
“Every pregnancy and birth is unique, and our focus is always on providing safe, high-quality care tailored to the needs of each mother and baby. We are delighted that both are doing well and wish the family every happiness as they begin this exciting new chapter.”
A dedicated team of neonatal and maternal care specialists from the hospital collaborated throughout the labour and the critical hours that followed to ensure mother and baby received thorough, continuous care.
Lyndee Hartwanger, hospital manager at Life Beacon Bay Hospital, said, “Welcoming a new baby into the world is always a special occasion. We are proud of the dedication and expertise of our maternity and neonatal teams, whose commitment helps ensure that mothers and babies receive the highest standard of care no matter what the birth weight. It has been a privilege to share in this family’s joyful moment.”
Management, medical staff and the wider maternity team have congratulated the parents on the arrival of their son and wished the family a future filled with health and happiness.
