The abalone, periwinkle and galjoen found by police in the car of a Worcester resident, landed him in hot water last week.

The man, a resident of Florian Park, was arrested on Friday 12 September around 18:00 by the Worcester Police when they followed up on information that he may be transporting these illegal goods. His vehicle was spotted on the Aan De Doorns Road in Johnson Park.

He was found to be in possession of 287 abalone, ten galjoen and 180 periwinkle (alikreukel).

He will appear in court on charges of illegal possession of abalone.
