The refurbishment began at the end of March, when the group’s 5-star Table Bay hotel closed for major renovation. Before the demolishing process began, some of its high-end furnishings and decorative fittings were transferred to Golden Valley.

Far from overpowering the 97 rooms, the elegant Victorian charm of the furniture blends in perfectly with green accent walls to create a comforting country ambiance.

Elegant mahogany TV cabinets, bedside storage units and writing desks, fit comfortably into the new setting. The king size two poster beds almost beg visitors to sink into them to hug the pillows. The dark wood of the plush bed is offset by crisp white linen and a cosy autumn-hued quilt at the foot of each bed.

Comfy chairs, footrests and couches all upholstered in warm colours are inviting.

In reception a moody marine-blue accent wall frames a giant mirror and marble-topped table with antique silver flower bowl. The cool blue tone contrasts with the golden tan tiled floor, luxurious caramel-coloured leather seating, deep-seat velvet blue couches and colourful vintage-style chairs.

In the breakfast area the double volume ceiling is matched by the enormous French doors that open up on to a sparkling pool and the mountains beyond. A luxurious blue and gold carpet fills the room, while tan leather seats, a beautiful marble table and a grand piano all add to the feeling of grandeur.

Guests can lounge around the pool during the hot summer months.

Next door to the Hotel is the Cape-Dutch styled casino with a selection of 173 slot games and four tables. Flanking the casino floor is the popular SunBet Sports Bar where live sports events are broadcast and value-for-money pub lunches can be enjoyed. The Kuipers restaurant serves a hearty buffet, including traditional Cape dishes, over the weekends. The emphasis is on hearty, delicious comforting food.

The complex is located in the picturesque Breede River Valley, Worcester surrounded by the towering cliffs of the Hex River Mountains to the north, and the Du Toitskloof and Slanghoek Mountain ranges to the west. It’s the perfect country base from which to explore this beautiful part of the world.
