Various role players came on board to make the Winter Warmth Campaign a success.

The 10th annual Winter Warmth Campaign hosted by the St Helena Bay Islamic Centre welcomed over 100 participants to two uplifting workshops.

This took place on Saturday 19 July at the centre.

The first focused on empowering Laingville’s youth, highlighting their worth, roles and the importance of dreaming big for a brighter future. Community leaders, youth forum members, church leaders and parents all actively joined the discussions.

The youth expressed the need for academic support, additional tutoring, youth-centred programmes, and access to self-study facilities, such as computer labs, to enhance learning opportunities. The second workshop emphasised cultivating community pride by encouraging cleanliness, environmental stewardship and collective responsibility.

Participants pledged to promote environmental awareness through a play and informational workshops in local schools, inspiring greater pride and care for Laingville.

The campaign also distributed 2 500 meals and some warm blankets to those most in need, providing vital relief during the cold winter season.

Hassan Sattar, secretary of the St Helena Bay Islamic Centre said this event not only strengthened community bonds, but also energised Laingville’s younger generation with hope and inspiration.

The St Helena Bay Islamic Centre warmly thanks all volunteers, leaders, and attendees who made this impactful and heartwarming event possible.
