Residents, schools, community organisations and the South African Police Service (Saps) are invited to join an awareness campaign about human trafficking and to honour missing children and persons.

The awareness event, hosted by Heavenly Haven Retreat, will take place on Thursday, 30 July, from 10:00 to 12:00 at the at Nautica Mall , in commemoration of the World Day Against Trafficking in Persons.

The event aims to educate the realities of human trafficking while encouraging the community to play an active role in protecting vulnerable people.

Learners are expected to perform the ‘National Anthem’ and ‘We Are the World’ as symbols of hope, unity and solidarity with survivors of human trafficking.

It is envisioned that the public will take part in a symbolic tribute by holding white and blue balloons in memory of missing children and missing persons, while awareness messages will focus on recognising and preventing human trafficking.

Saps Langebaan has been invited to participate, highlighting the importance of partnerships between law enforcement, schools, businesses, faith-based organisations and the wider community in combating trafficking and strengthening safety initiatives.

Following the programme, everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy soup, coffee and refreshments while engaging with other community members.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend and support the campaign against human trafficking.
