Parents of learners who applied on time for admission to Grade R, 1 and 8 in the 2027 school year have until Monday 15 June to confirm their school choices.
The reminder follows the release of admission outcomes by the Western Cape Education Department (WCED) on Thursday 28 May.
It has urged parents to respond to offers as soon as possible, as this helps free up spaces for other learners awaiting placement. According to the WCED many learners receive offers from more than one school meaning a significant number of places remain temporarily occupied until parents make their final selections.
Western Cape Education Minister David Maynier said more than 40 000 learners last year held multiple successful applications at different schools.
“As soon as parents begin confirming their choice of offers, additional places become available and can then be offered to other learners.”
The department stressed that parents should not panic if their child has not yet received an offer.
The admissions process remains active, and there is usually significant movement in placements in the days and weeks after the initial outcomes are released.
Schools will contact parents directly when places become available.
The WCED has also encouraged parents to ensure their contact details are up to date and to remain in contact with the schools to which they applied.
Maynier appealed for patience during this phase of the admissions process, saying the department remained committed to ensuring that every learner is placed at a school for the 2027 academic year.
