The murder case against three men accused of killing motor-racing driver Robert Wolk was postponed in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court until 2 October. The state says one accused was hired to kill four employees, including Wolk, and recruited the other two. The three rammed the 41-year-old’s Audi with a hijacked Volkswagen Jetta in Esther Park on 16 September and opened fire when he stopped to check the damage.

In other news, animal welfare group World Animal Protection says South African ostrich farms are pulling feathers from living birds to supply luxury fashion brands including Louis Vuitton, Dior and Chanel. Workers place bags over ostriches’ heads and remove feathers without pain relief. South Africa accounts for about 75% of the global ostrich market. The group wants fashion brands to stop using ostrich feathers.

And in the Western Cape, a private consortium has announced plans to bring Formula 1 to the Swartland region by 2031. Blue Mountain Racing, chaired by former Sibanye-Stillwater CEO Neal Froneman, says the project would be entirely privately funded, with a circuit on a 600-hectare site about 60 kilometres north of Cape Town. The group has made initial contact with Formula 1 and has received in-principle support from the Western Cape government and sport minister Gayton McKenzie.
