In a stark revelation that exposes the ongoing challenges facing Moqhaka Municipality, the Democratic Alliance (DA) has brought to light a critical staffing crisis that threatens essential municipal services. Over 120 budgeted positions remain unfilled in the Waste Management Department, whilst the municipality struggles to maintain basic service delivery to its 35 114 households.

Current employees are bearing the brunt of the understaffing, working extensive overtime and experiencing significant workplace stress.

David Nzunga, DA Councillor of the Moqhaka Municipality, says they will address the issue with the council and closely monitor the waste management crisis.

They will put pressure on the municipality for the immediate filling of the 120 budgeted vacant positions in the waste department.

The DA emphasises that these unfilled roles are critical to maintaining efficient municipal services and will closely monitor the situation.
