The eight-year-old Khotsitse Khantsi, fondly known as Khotsi, continues to shine as one of Kroonstad’s promising young talents.
The Gr.3 learner of the Trio Primary School in Kroonstad has qualified to represent South Africa at the International Dance Competition in Germany from 1 to 5 July this year.
Training under Johan Labuschagne at Dancing Stars in Kroonstad, Khotsi specialises in South African Country and Western dancing, competing in the Modern, Classic, and Novice divisions.
Although she does not take part in other sports, dancing has quickly become both her passion and her preferred way of staying active.
“I love dancing because it helps me get more exercise,” says Khotsi.

Remarkably, she has only been dancing for one year, yet she has already built an impressive list of achievements.
In March 2025, she placed second in Modern Line Basic at the Club Championships in Kroonstad.
Two months later, she claimed first place in the same category at the District Challenge in Lephalale, Limpopo.
Her winning streak continued in August 2025 at the Inter-Provincial Championship in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, where she earned first place with honours and was promoted in Social Line Dance.
She also secured second place in Line Dance Modern Basic at the same event.
Her standout achievement came in October 2025 at the South African Open WCDF Worlds Qualifier in Alberton, Gauteng. There, she took first place in Line Dance (Basic) Modern as well as first place in Classic Line Dance – Newcomer, officially qualifying to compete on the world stage in Germany.
Her parents, Tebello Khantsi and Gerald Xowana, say they are incredibly proud of their daughter’s dedication and determination.
However, the opportunity to compete internationally brings significant expenses, including travel, accommodation, competition fees and attire.
Those wishing to support Khotsi in her dancing endeavours can contact the family directly. With passion, perseverance and community support, this young dancer is ready to represent Kroonstad and her country with pride.
