A tragic accident on the R76 outside Viljoenskroon has claimed the lives of three children and left several injured.
The road accident occurred just outside Viljoenskroon on Sunday, 9 November, upon which emergency medical services and law enforcement agencies swiftly responded to the incident.
The accident involved a seven-seater vehicle returning to Sasolburg from a church service in Kroonstad.
Preliminary reports indicate that among the casualties, one adult sustained moderate injuries, while another was slightly injured. The impact was particularly severe for the children, with two critically injured, three moderately injured, and an additional three suffering minor injuries. Three children were declared dead at the scene.
Patients were promptly transported to the PAX Community Health Centre in Viljoenskroon and the Boitumelo Hospital in Kroonstad, where they received urgent medical attention.
Investigators assigned to the case are working diligently to uncover what led to this event.
