Members of Ward 1’s committee were recognised by Subcouncil 7 for their valuable contributions and dedicated service to the community at an event held at the Durbanville Municipal Chambers this week.
Ward 1 includes the areas of Plattekloof, Panorama, Monte Vista, Plattekloof Glen, Welgelegen, Kleinbosch and Sonnendal.
Ward committee member Helga Easom explained that its purpose is to act as a formal bridge between local residents and the City of Cape Town. She said committee members ensured community needs were heard, assisted with local governance and helped guide service-delivery priorities for the ward.
Community work
“Serving this community has been a distinct privilege. We will remain dedicated to making a meaningful, positive impact for our community.” Easom chairs the PWP (Plattekloof, Welgelegen, Panorama and Kleinbosch) Residents Ratepayers Association.
Both she and Tyrel Painczyk, chair of the Monte Vista and Plattekloof Glen (MVPG) Ratepayers’ Residents Association, and Pierre Gouws, owner of the District Group, received awards of recognition at the event, which took place on Wednesday 19 August.
Gratitude
Painczyk said: “We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to Gerhard Fourie for his excellent guidance and unwavering commitment while leading Subcouncil 7 over the past term. We also extend our sincere appreciation to his team and to subcouncil manager Lorraine Frost for her invaluable support. Furthermore, we thank chairperson Cheryl Visser for entrusting us to serve on the Ward 1 committee.”
The ward committee members are Visser (ward councillor and chair), Easom (PWP), Painczyk (MVPG Ratepayers Association), Gouws, Stephanus Kruger, Julian Wesson and Casper Rossouw, Roxanne la Vita, Leone Pretorius, Deon Oosthuizen and Hilmar von Fintel.
