The spirit of community support was on full display at the Goodwood Police Station this week when the Porsche Club South Africa – Cape generously donated a large quantity of blankets and warm items to the Victim Support Room at the station.
The donation was received on behalf of the Goodwood Community Policing Forum (CPF) and Goodwood police, with Pierre Gouws, representing the Porsche Club, handing over the much-needed items, Abdallah Sydney, CPF chair said.
Victim Support Room
The Victim Support Room provides a safe, private and supportive environment for victims of crime who require support when reporting incidents to the police. The donated blankets will provide much-needed warmth and comfort to vulnerable victims, particularly during the cold winter months, Sydney said.
The Goodwood CPF thanked the Porsche Club for recognising the important role played by the Victim Support Room and for choosing to make a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing of victims in their community.
“Community policing is not only about fighting crime — it is also about caring for those who have been affected by crime. A warm blanket may seem like a simple gesture, but to someone sitting in a Victim Support Room after experiencing a traumatic incident, it can provide comfort, dignity and a sense that people genuinely care,” says Sydney.
Grateful
“A special word of appreciation goes to Pierre for representing the Porsche Club and for facilitating this generous donation. His commitment to supporting the community is sincerely valued,” he adds.
The CPF and police thank the Porsche Club for standing alongside the community and helping to ensure that victims receive not only professional assistance but also compassion and care when they need it most, Sydney said.
“Together, we can make a difference, one act of kindness at a time,” Sydney says.
