Residents in the greater Goodwood area can soon expect improved access to document certification services, thanks to a new initiative by the local Community Policing Forum (CPF).

The CPF committee has confirmed that all its members have successfully been appointed as Commissioners of Oaths, a move aimed at supporting the South African Police Service and easing pressure on local police stations.

Certification of documents – such as identity copies and affidavits – is one of the most common services requested at police stations. However, these administrative tasks often take up valuable time that could be better spent on crime prevention and policing duties, says Abdallah Sydney, Goodwood CPF chair.

By making CPF members available to assist with certification, residents will have more convenient options, helping to reduce long queues at police stations while allowing officers to focus on their core responsibilities, he says.

According to the CPF, all applications have been approved, and the process of issuing official stamps is currently underway. The service will be rolled out to the public as soon as the necessary logistics are finalised.

The initiative forms part of broader efforts to strengthen collaboration with the police and improve service delivery to the community.

“We are committed to supporting our local police and making services more accessible to residents. This is one of several steps we are taking to enhance safety and efficiency in our area,” Sydney says.

Further details on when and where the service will be available will be communicated to residents in due course.
