Milnerton Primary School is celebrating the mathematical talent of Grade 4 learner Maximus Saunders after he qualified for the final round of the South African Mathematics Challenge.

Maximus was among just 400 primary school learners from across the country to advance to the third and final round of the prestigious competition, organised by the South African Mathematics Foundation.

Competing in the junior category, Maximus took part in the final round on Thursday 10 September, putting his mathematical knowledge and problem-solving skills to the test alongside some of the country’s top young mathematicians.

The achievement has been welcomed by Milnerton Primary, which said Maximus’s success reflected both his dedication to mathematics and his enthusiasm for solving challenging problems.

“His achievement reflects his dedication to mathematics and his enthusiasm for problem-solving,” the school said.

Commitment

The school added that it was proud of the Grade 4 learner and the commitment he had demonstrated throughout the competition.

The challenge provides learners with an opportunity to test their mathematical reasoning and problem-solving abilities beyond the classroom.

For Maximus, progressing through to the final round represents a significant achievement at just Grade 4 level and highlights his growing interest in mathematics.

Milnerton Primary said it was proud to celebrate his accomplishment and recognise the effort he had put into the competition.
