Two men were arrested in Hout Street, Kraaifontein, on Wednesday afternoon after allegedly robbing a 13-year-old schoolgirl of her cellphone at knifepoint.

The pair were nabbed shortly after 14:00 when a Titanium Securitas tactical reaction team member spotted two individuals matching the description given to security by informants.

The schoolgirl had been on her way home from school when the suspects allegedly struck her in the face, threatened her with a knife, and took her cellphone, according to Titanium spokesperson, Kobus Kotze.

“The victim positively identified the pair on the scene. A search followed, turning up both the stolen phone and the knife. Both suspects were arrested and handed to Kraaifontein police for further investigation,” says Kotze.

Provincial police confirmed the incident saying the two men aged 30 and 35 appeared in Bluedowns Magistrate’s Court on Friday.
