The Kleinmond inniebos Kunstefees (KliK) will take place from Friday 27 November to Sunday 29 November in Kleinmond, reached along Clarence Drive (R44).

The three-day festival will feature local Kleinmond artists alongside artists and authors from Kalk Bay, Muizenberg, Retreat and Parklands. A festival market will also be held.

Organisations on the KliK Festival Committee include The Grail Centre, Mthimkhulu Community Development, Kleinmond Central Café, Tides Restaurant, Hangklip Kleinmond Business Forum and the Cape Cultural Collective, which has members from across Cape Town and the Helderberg.

Celebration of art

Following its first edition in 2025, KliK will this year present a programme of written and spoken word, music and discussions.

Artists featured include:

• Frazer Barry and Tribal Echo, both Kleinmond artists, will perform music in Afrikaans that celebrates culture and storytelling. Tribal Echo’s roots music has been described as a sound unlike anything else.
• Khadija Heeger, who grew up in Hanover Park and now lives in Parklands, will talk about her work Beyond the Delivery Room and Thicker than Sorrow at The Writer’s Cafe. She will also take part in a tribute to Diana Ferrus with Frazer Barry and the Mengelmoesdigters (Merle Danhouse, Gaireyah Fredericks, Sophia Olifant and Fiona Fertyn), a writing collective Diana started in 2013.
• Professor Barbara Boswell, a lecturer at UCT and Muizenberg resident, will be among the featured writers. She is the author of the award-winning book The Comrade’s Wife.
• Shihaam Domingo from Retreat will host “Kruie Kuier”, which includes traditional Sunday koesisters with indigenous tea at the Grail Centre, followed by a foraging walk in the veld.
• Professor Andries du Toit, who lives in Kalk Bay and is based at the School of Governance at the University of the Western Cape, will discuss his book A Blow to the Head: A History of Violence. The book is written as a personal essay-style political memoir rather than a traditional academic text.
• Colleen Higgs, publisher of Cape-based Modjaji Books, will lead a writing workshop for aspiring writers.

Festival market

A two-day indoor KliK Market will be held at the Kleinmond Town Hall for attendees to start their festive season shopping. The market will offer arts and crafts by local creators, festive season gifts and local food and artisan products.
