The Goodwood Community Policing Forum (CPF) says since its volunteers started offering their service as Commissioners of Oaths, they have assisted hundreds of people in the area and surrounds at the local police station.
Mogammad Rajab, spokesperson, says during the month of August they have successfully assisted 368 members of the public from all walks of life. This number increased to 411 in September, he says, adding they anticipate that over the next few months they will see a marked increase as we enter the school registration period.
Support
“By stepping in to handle these essential administrative services, we are bringing relief to our understaffed, hardworking police officers, freeing up police resources so they can focus on pressing crime and safety issues in our precinct and helping neighbours both in Goodwood and surrounding areas who have heard about the service through word of mouth,” says Rajab.
Members of the public can visit the Goodwood Police Station from Mondays to Fridays from 15:00 to 19:00 and on Saturdays from 09:00 to 12:00.
Services expanded
Rajab says more locations are coming soon. “Keep an eye on our socials and local media for other activations in the area where we will be providing the service to the public at various other venues.”
Rajab thanked the local police for their support, saying the initiative would not have been possible without their incredible backing, support, and partnership.
