The Cape Chamber of Commerce and Industry has launched a new Enterprise Development Hub, a growing collection of free, practical short courses to help people and organisations develop their skills.
The online courses cover a range of topics, from finding your first clients to using artificial intelligence in business. They are aimed at people running their own businesses, employees of large companies, and organisations that are not businesses.
“It’s a growing library of free, practical micro-courses designed to help people and organisations build their capabilities,” said Robyn Border from the Chamber.
Two ways to benefit
Border said there are two ways to benefit from the hub.
The first is to use the courses to improve your own skills and those of your team, so your organisation can grow. People are encouraged to share the hub with others, as the more people who benefit, the better.
“When people and organisations build their capabilities, our regional economy grows stronger,” said Border.
The second way is available to chamber members only. Members who have useful knowledge or experience can create a short course for the hub. While the hub is not a place to advertise, sharing expertise is a form of exposure, Border said. When people find the knowledge useful, they will know where to turn if they need further help.
“When employees, entrepreneurs or those in public service grow their capabilities and as a result grow and improve their organisations, our regional economy strengthens,” she said.
Live training continues
The Chamber also continues to offer live online seminars and in-person training to both members and non-members.
Border said live training offers something the online courses cannot. “While knowledge is freely available, wisdom is not. The ability of trained experts to tailor that knowledge to your organisation’s needs in an interactive way, is what sets our live training sessions apart.”
