The Western Cape police say nobody has been arrested after a shooting incident in Taaibos Street, Bonteheuwel, on Tuesday, 25 August.
Attempted murder
According to police spokesperson Thembakazi Mpendukana, an attempted murder case was opened at Bishop Lavis police station following the incident. At around 18:30, a 26-year-old male victim sustained a gunshot injury and was rushed to the nearest hospital for medical care. “The motive is still unknown and the circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. Furthermore, no arrest has been effected yet,” says Mpendukana.
Local ward councillor Angus McKenzie says he wants to sincerely applaud the residents who once again made use of the community tip-off line. “As a direct result of the information received, we were able to quickly mobilise our tactical response Metro Police team and respond to the situation. Nine individuals have been taken in for profiling, but we continue the search for the individual believed to be responsible for the shooting.
