Social grant beneficiaries who still use South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) gold cards have less than a week to swap them for Postbank black cards before the 31 August deadline.
Postbank has warned that gold cards will stop working once the migration process ends. Beneficiaries who miss the deadline could struggle to access their grant payments.
The bank has urged people not to wait until their usual payment dates to replace cards, as this could lead to long queues at replacement sites.
Where to get new cards
Postbank black cards are available at selected retailers, including Shoprite, Checkers, Usave, Pick n Pay, Boxer and Spar stores.
Card replacement sites operate nationwide from Monday to Friday, between 09:00 and 17:00.
Beneficiaries can dial *120 355# from their mobile phones to find their nearest replacement site.
The replacement is free. Beneficiaries need to bring a valid South African identity document or temporary ID.

Postbank has asked beneficiaries to visit Postbank service points rather than SASSA offices for questions about gold cards and black cards.
Beneficiaries can contact the Postbank call centre on 0800 535 455 for help with payment queries, including missed payments, PIN problems, lost or stolen cards, card reissues and declined transactions.
