BLOEMFONTEIN -Three suspects were arrested in connection with the death of a 52-year old woman who was murdered and raped close to her home in Bainsvlei.

The relentless dedication of Bainsvlei Detectives has led to a significant breakthrough following the tragic discovery of the body of the 52-year-old Anna Gabuza. The suspects have been traced and apprehended in connection with her murder and rape.

The suspects, Pogisho Jantjie (39), Jacob Brandt (42), and Samuel Tshweu (53) were arrested over the past weekend.

The victim was originally reported missing by her family on Wednesday 1 April. She had reportedly left her residence in Meadhurst Road, Bainsvlei, to purchase airtime at a local shop. She left her cellphone at home and never returned, prompting an immediate search operation.

On Sunday 5 April at approximately 10:00, Bainsvlei police responded to a high-priority call regarding a discovery in the bushes. Upon arrival, officers found the body of a female lying face up, naked from the waist down, with visible physical injuries. A family member present at the scene tragically confirmed the identity of the deceased as the missing woman.

The three suspects appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday and will appear again on Wednesday 15 April to face charges of murder and rape. The investigation is ongoing, and further charges may be added as the case progresses.
