New Breed Empowerment held a highly successful talent show in the Bonnievale Community Hall on 17 June as part of its Youth Day initiatives.
It featured local star Rodney Goliath, known as Rotas the rapper from Paarl, and Jemaine Julies, an up-and-coming RnB artist from Bot River.
The talent show had prominent motivational speakers who gave motivational speeches and life-changing testimonies.
For the MC of the event, candidate attorney André Brown from Robertson, the show was worthy of fireworks.
The competition, which had 14 participants, had performance variety, including rap, dance and singing. The artists entertained the crowd with their talents and abilities.
The show was on such a high that the crowd was not put off by the load shedding, which interrupted the event at its peak at 20:00.
The crowd, instead, danced and took photos with Rotas between performances.
The winners of the 1st talent show was: . 1st place – Kappa-Kindt en Aiden Neymar (R3 000). 2nd place – Ricardo Rossouw (R1 500). 3rd place – Nelly D (R1 000)
The hosts Denzil Nobel, Samantha Nobel and Arnold Koker explained that the competition is only the first part of the process to develop the artists.
Follow-up sessions, which will include discussing the judges’ notes and feedback, will be arranged with the artists.
