A man (26) faces a charge of attempted murder following an incident on a farm outside Malmesbury that occurred on Monday (29 August) at approximately 18:20.

According to police spokesperson Captain Marko Heydenrych, in the incident the victim and suspect were involved in an argument.

“The suspect ran to his bakkie, took out a firearm and pointed it at the complainant and fired a shot,” he said.

“The complainant managed to run away and was not injured in the incident.”

Heydenrych said the police followed up on information of the whereabouts of the suspect, and he was arrested.

“The firearm was confiscated and, after inspection, was found that it shoots blank rounds.”

The suspect is due to appear in the Malmesbury Magistrates Court once charged.
